Man in space: this ultimate adventure has been a source of dreams for generations. Today, following in the successful footsteps of Russia's Mir space station, astronauts live year round on the International Space Station, 400 kilometres above our heads. This may hardly seem extraordinary now, but to maintain appropriate conditions for supporting human life in such a harsh environment, the station must have frequent outside contact, seamless international cooperation and perfectly organised logistics.
