Third Ariane 5 mission of 2011
Ariane 5, developed and built by Airbus Defence and Space, launched from Kourou in French Guiana
The third Ariane 5 flight of 2011 has successfully launched two telecommunications satellites, ST-2 for the operator ST-2 Satellite Ventures Pte Ltd and GSAT-8 (INSAT 4G) for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Airbus Defence and Space is single prime contractor for the Ariane 5 system, responsible for delivery to Arianespace of a fully integrated and tested launch vehicle.
Reaching new heights
This high-power, dual-launch vehicle, which can place satellites of up to 10 tonnes into geostationary transfer orbit, and the development of future launch systems already in preparation, are testimony to Airbus Defence and Space’s commitment to be innovative – to find the perfect solution for every mission, ever more creative, more efficient, more competitive and more reliable.
