Airbus Defence and Space at DSEi

Defence & Security Equipment International exhibition, London

With over 1,300 exhibitors, the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition at the ExCel centre in London is a key event in the defence and security calendar. From 13–16 September, Airbus Defence and Space will be present on the AIRBUS Group stand, no S3 - 300, showcasing some of its latest products and services.

Airbus Defence and Space’s Paradigm subsidiary will be demonstrating two way text messaging via satellite with XmarX. Using Bluetooth or USB cable links to other devices such as smart phones and PDAs, Paradigm is enabling two way e-mail and the use of smart phone apps anywhere in the world regardless of terrestrial infrastructure. This technology can be used for a variety of applications, such as enabling patrol commanders to see their own position and the positions of the rest of the team whilst on the move or, paired with the Equivital Medical Sensor, to monitor the vital signs of members of the team.

Airbus Defence and Space’s Secure Satcom Systems (3S) division will be exhibiting its next generation naval terminal – SCOTPatrol – designed to extend broadband satcom capabilities to smaller ships such as Offshore Patrol Vessels. Other products on the stand will be AirPatrol airborne satcom terminal and the man-portable MobilePatrol MPS450 terminal.

3S will also be showing their Helicopter Waveform for the first time. This is a unique development which enables broadband capability from rotary wing platforms (such as Chinooks) by compensating for rotor outage and interference.
