Airbus Defence and Space’s Mars Rover at major UK science show
The Big Bang Fair is a major UK event to show young people (primarily aged 7–19) the many exciting applications of science, technology, engineering and maths (the STEM subjects), as well as the range of opportunities out there for them to make a career in these fields.
This year’s fair was held at the Excel Centre in London over four days in March and attracted in excess of 60,000 school students, teachers and parents.
The Airbus Defence and Space Mars Rover prototype Bridget was the star of the Airbus Defence and Space stand in the ‘Next Factor’ area of the exhibition, rubbing shoulders with the UK Space Agency and the Institute of Physics. As always, the Airbus Defence and Space’s stand was a hive of activity through, with countless school groups clambering to see Bridget in action driving over rocks, and asking a wide range of questions of the Airbus Defence and Space stand-manners – from what ExoMars aims to achieve on Mars to how they can start a career at Airbus Defence and Space. Many thousands of posters and freebies were also given away, explaining in more detail the role of Bridget and her ‘brother’ Bruno on the ExoMars project.
The whole event was a massive success and there is little doubt Airbus Defence and Space and Bridget will be back next year!”
