Airbus Defence and Space sensors keep an eye on Australia

Airbus Defence and Space satellites are closely monitoring the Australian floods

A range of Airbus Defence and Space satellites has been closely monitoring the Australian State of Queensland. Affecting an area the size of France and Germany put together and killing more than 30 people since heavy rains began last November, the floods have been the worst the state has seen in decades.

This multi-temporal false colour image was acquired by Envisat's onboard ASAR instrument, working in wide swath medium resolution (WSM) mode, earlier this month. The inundated area, south of Rockhampton, is represented by the blue colour.
