Eyjafjallajökull volcano

This image, taken on 19 April by the European Space Agency’s Airbus Defence and Space-built environmental-monitoring satellite Envisat, shows a dense cloud of ash approximately 400 km long from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland moving in a southeasterly direction.

The Icelandic volcano has been emitting steam and ash since its eruptions began on 20 March.
