Service provided by UAE-owned Yahsat
6 May 2013 – Washington, D.C. – Airbus Defence and Space Americas announced today that its subsidiary, Airbus Defence and Space Government, Inc., will offer UAE-owned Yahsat Military Ka-Band service to the US government. This service allows any US government or Department of Defense end user to utilise Yahsat Military Ka-Band capacity that is compatible with the Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) constellation for greater global coverage and reliability.
Airbus Defence and Space was the prime contractor for the construction of the Yahsat satellite fleet. Airbus Defence and Space will provide end-to-end services using Yahsat Military Ka-Band capacity in order to meet DoD requirements on contract vehicles such as the Defense Information System Agency’s Future Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM) Services Acquisition (FCSA) program. This deal deepens Airbus Defence and Space’ commitment to be the leading provider of COMSATCOM and MILSATCOM services to the US government.
