Berlin, 7 June 2010: Airbus Defence and Space, designer, builder and prime contractor of the Ariane, has installed an impressive 12 metre and eight tonne mock-up of an Ariane 5 on the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany.
From 29 May to 13 June, Ariane 5, a symbol of both European cooperation and its independent access to space, will be on display on the Potsdamer Platz during the ILA international airshow, which is taking place in Berlin from 8 June 2010.
By visiting the Potsdamer Platz, space fans and visitors will get an idea of the sheer magnitude of the real rocket, which is more than 50 metres tall and weighs 750 tonne, and last month made its 50th launch from the Guiana Space Centre, in Kourou, French Guiana.
