• Contract covers modems, baseband equipment, cryptos, network management and ground segment
9 May 2012 - Airbus Defence and Space, Europe’s leading space company, has been awarded a contract to provide airborne satcom systems from Star Satellite Communications Company, a subsidiary of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat).
Initially Airbus Defence and Space will supply Yahsat with airborne systems comprising modems, baseband equipment, cryptos, network management and ground segment. The system will help overcome the increasing requirement and demand for secure, high speed transmission of data in the area.
“Partnering with Airbus Defence and Space allows Yahsat to benefit from the assurance and expertise of an industry leader; with a proven track record in satellite communications applications and technologies", Rashed Al Ghafri, General Manager of YahService, said.
"This agreement will enable us to provide the most advanced technologies in satellite communications to support the UAE's airborne assets", he added.
