After 30 years of participation in space missions, particularly science focused, in cooperation with several space agencies such as the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA (USA), CNES (France), Russian and Swedish space administrations, and many space industries including Airbus Defence and Space, Poland is preparing to become a full member of the European Space Agency (ESA). To achieve this goal, Poland joined a special cooperation programme of ESA named PECS programme (ESA Plan for European Cooperating States) two years ago and two sets of PECS projects have already been selected by ESA.
Poland has a large number of highly educated scientists and engineers and benefits from top class universities and research laboratories. In addition, Airbus Defence and Space, the space division of AIRBUS Group and its founding companies have, since the early years of the space era, worked closely with European partners in developing a variety of telecommunications, science, Earth observation climate and meteorological space programmes for instance
Airbus Defence and Space welcomes closer cooperation with Poland and through sponsoring the best space-related PhD and postdoctoral research, aims to support the country in its scientific and space engineering objectives, raise awareness for space science and innovation and encourage outstanding students.
