1553 data bus repeater ASIC

This ASIC is a cost effective MIL-STD-1553B Repeater ASIC, developed in a radiation tolerant technology and qualified for space applications. It can interconnect up to 6 MIL-STD-1553B buses and allows the group of buses to function as a single bus. It is already flight proven on ARIANE 5 and space qualified on several programs like International Space Station and COLOMBUS Orbital Facility.

Features / technical details

The MIL-STD-1553B REP ASIC detects the active channel and copies the information on the other ones. It also allows the disconnection of one or more buses without disturbing the others.

It is connected to each MIL-STD-1553B bus with a MIL-STD-1553B Single Transceiver and an isolation transformer. The repeater low crossing time (including transceivers) allows to cascade 2 MIL-STD- 1553B REP ASICs in order to built a 10 buses interconnection capability without any MIL-STD-1553B protocol violations. The MIL-STD-1553B REP ASIC low power consumption and radiation tolerance, better than 100 kRads (functional), is especially relevant for space applications.
